INNERWEALTH - A New Mind for A New Season
Welcome back. I have missed you sorely. Since the publication of the last Write Press Newsletter, there have been a multitude of internal changes, not only with our staff, but also in the world at large. Change is imminent and regardless of what happens on the planet, this newsletter is the medium that I will use to speak from the heart about topics that impact the human condition.
The latest hot button issue is described in a recent article published on the MSN News website. The article recounts the story of hundreds, if not thousands, of New Jersey residents living in tents. These tent cities are filled with people who––after losing their jobs, houses, friends, and basic necessities––have adapted to the next season of their lives living on the street. According to Web News Jax, tent cities are becoming a norm in the United States. The chronically unemployed, a mixture of all ages, cultures, and genders, make up the majority of tent dwellers. This new primitive community brings more than a slew of unwanted dangers into many neighborhoods. More importantly, it speaks volumes about even the most extraordinary people succumbing to life’s stressors. Life is tough, especially given our global economic condition, and some people with many years of work experience and education have given up and allowed hopelessness to take a mental stronghold.
When I ask myself how I would respond under the same duress, in my spirit I know that giving up is clearly not an option. There must be a better way of survival and I believe breakthroughs come from acquiring a new mindset. To regain our footing, we have to take one step at a time. The first step is to turn our minds in the right direction. There have been many times when I’ve felt like throwing in the towel; but my inner spirit (God’s voice) directs me to books that propel me forward. This is the reason why Write Press News is so precious. Books are rich resource for empowering the downtrodden and inspiring a better quality of life.
The Write Press News recommendation for the month of November is Innerwealth: Putting the Heart and Soul Back into Work and Life by Christopher Walker. I love the title of this book because I immediately knew the author would address the correlation between external wealth and internal wealth to convey powerful dynamic truths. Innerwealth speaks pointedly about how to develop the hidden resources of our hearts and minds. Walker asks: What does inner wealth look like with the natural eye? More importantly, he asks the question: If a person is internally wealthy, how can they accept living beneath their own values and standards?
My favorite chapter is “Changing Your Mind: The Power of the Inspired Mind.” It affirms my belief that a simple change of mind can change everything! I have no doubt that there are thousands of people who have managed to turn their lives around simply by changing their mind. If you need a little more encouragement, this book imparts dozens of brief, encouraging messages about balancing life and how to take back your power regardless of your circumstance. We need to be reminded daily that if we truly do our part, somehow all things will work out for the best. Use this book as a guide to gradually rebuild your confidence, self-esteem, and courage to get a new jump-start on life.
