An Interview with Myself

Interview with Publisher & Founder - Ruth Wilson

Recently, I came across a website where a blogger posted a neat idea: an article in which he interviews himself. I thought, “What a great way to share insights about myself with the Write Press News readers!” So, here it is….a short Interview with myself.

1. If I wasn’t writing, what would I be doing? Being a full-time college student could easily be a lifetime profession. Educational institutions are the place to keep abreast of the latest and greatest technology. A beachside seat, an ice-cold bottle of beer, an iPad, and taking advantage of the many free college extension courses looks more appealing every day.

2. What is your favorite quotation? My absolute favorite is, “Don’t let the loss of little keep you from the greatness of lot” (Anonymous). Sometimes we love and latch on to things that have no real significance––just forget about them and move on.

3. What book inspires you the most? What a super tough question! Next to the Bible, I would say that The Power of Focus by Jack Canfield inspires me to keep moving forward regardless of the many obstacles and challenges that life presents.

4. How old are you? I dare not answer that question. It’s not that I’m ashamed to share my age. I simply prefer to focus on imparting thoughts of wisdom to my readers. I can, however, give you a hint: my radio stays tuned into those soulful sounds of the ‘70s.

5. What makes you smile? An instant smile appears when I talking with someone who mirrors my thoughts. I love to connect and forge new relationships with folks who aren’t a part of my personal social circle. And, it is all the better when these new associates turn out to be friends for life.

6. What is the most important personal thing you have done so far? Recognize my personal own greatness. Once I developed faith in myself, not sweating the small stuff became much easier.

7. What do you consider your most significant career accomplishment? My most significant career accomplishment is learning how to be authentic with my clients. Of course, maintaining an excellent and professional working relationship is a process that happens over the course of many months and years of working through various situations.

8. What is the most stupid thing you’ve done so far? If I were to die tomorrow, my only regret is not learning the power and value of networking early on in my career. I think many unemployed workers wish they had taken advantage of building greater personal and professional alliances throughout their career. The good thing is that it is never too late to start.

9. Who is your most dangerous enemy? Low self-esteem and the inner voice that whispers disempowering thoughts and plants seeds of doubt the mind. I have learned to combat the enemy by listening to motivating and uplifting self-help audio tapes before I go to sleep at night. I will share some of those resources with the WPN readers in the coming months.

10. What is your favorite food? Pizza! As a native Chicagoan, I need not say more. My favorites are Beggars Pizza (thin crust) and Exchequer Pub for (Sicilian style pan pizza). Basically, any type of food rich in calories captures my attention.

11. What is a good way to encourage others? Strike up a conversation with a like-minded person and share your latest innovative idea or aspiration. Cutting edge thinkers, motivators, and planners always find it easy to connect and inspire others.

12. What advice can you share with people who are unemployed and depressed? Learn to turn water into wine. Everybody has some form of expertise. Why not use that talent to help you survive? Develop a short-term action plan and take baby steps. You might be surprised by the acceptance you receive.

13. What is your No. 1 question for God? How did Jesus overcome the law of gravity while walking on the water? From a spiritual perspective, I can understand how he accomplished this miracle; but from a scientific perspective, it is simply baffling.

14. What is the first thing you do in the morning? PRAY. Prayer is as essential as food. Connecting to your source is no different than filling your car with gas. Rising early to a beautiful ray of sunshine and quiet meditation sets the tone for my day.
